Fellowship Ideas
 

Video Scavenger Hunt

Have this party during the daylight hours, as the videos will turn out better using outdoor sunlight.

Schedule - 2.5 hours

20 Minutes: Arrival and icebreaker
90 Minutes: Video Scavenger Hunt
10 Minutes: Return, snacks, and fellowship
30 Minutes: Watch videos (time may vary)
 

Hollywood Invitations
Use inexpensive sunglasses (or make your own by cutting black poster board in the shape on glasses). Using ribbon, attach the invitation to the glasses inviting your guests to the party.

Be creative in decorating your party location. Use movie posters, boxes of popcorn, the director's "take" chart. Play soundtracks from your favorite movies.

The Hunt

Divide your group into teams and have a video camera for each team. Set a time limit for them to complete the following activities.

 

  1. Movie Title- Creatively present the title of your video. Use posters, signs, or banners. Everyone (except camera person) in the group should be in this shot. Extra points for the most original presentation.
  2. Grocery Store- Tape each member holding a different product starting with the letter Y. Extra points for the cashier holding a Y product as well.
  3. Athletic Event- Tape your group watching an athletic event of any kind (create your own if you can't find one). Extra points for a team member cheering at the event.
  4. Restaurant- Each member must be filmed taking a bite of food. You must show the name of the restaurant. Extra points for a team member acting as a waitress serving food.
  5. Skit- Perform a short skit portraying a great classic or Bible story. Extra points for costumes.
  6. Hats- Using newspaper and tape provided, each member must create a hat and model it on the video. Extra points for the tallest hat.
  7. Statues- Visit a statue, fountain, or monument and tape your group standing by it. Extra points for creating your own human monument at the scene where you are visiting.
  8. Videos- At a video store, each member must find a video that starts with the same letter as their first name. Extra points if they are all musicals.

Judging takes place while the videos are rolling. Give awards for the Best Actor/Actress, Comedy Award, etc.

Closing Credits
It is amusing and sometimes scary to see ourselves on video. Can you imagine if all of our deeds were taped. That would tend to change our attitudes, language, and actions, wouldn't it?

Although we are not being taped at all times, there is someone always watching over us. God is the God who sees all. He knows what we have been through and what we have done, and loves us anyway. How comforting to realize that even when no one else understands, God knows, sees, and understands.


Tacky Party - Dress tacky and play crazy games.


Birthday Party for entire class

Have a "kiddy" birthday party, celebrating everyone's birthday. Send party invitations to the class and decorate with streamers and balloons in that same theme. Serve finger foods and don't forget the cake and ice cream!

Exchange white elephant gifts (like at Christmas parties). Set rules on the number of times a gift can be traded before it is "retired".

Play pin the tail on the donkey, duck duck goose, musical chairs or other games you remember playing as a child. Sing Happy Birthday to the group! Party Hats are a must!


Recreation Cook Out at the Church Park

Reserve the church park and bring out the volleyballs, playground balls, and horseshoes. Some recreation toys can be reserved through the church office. The entire family can join in the fun as you cookout and play outside.


Theme Dinner

Choose a theme for dinner and dress in the theme, if appropriate. Start with a creative invitation to set your theme (be sure to tell your guests to dress in the theme if you choose). Have each couple or family bring a dish relating to the theme.

Game Fellowship

Set up several board games, card games, tables and chairs. After a set time, someone blows a whistle telling all players to rotate games. Players will rotate around the room until ending back where they started. They should complete their original game, as best they can.

The first and last games should last 8-10 minutes; all others should last 5 minutes each.

Blast Off - Place chairs in a large circle a few feet apart. Everyone gets a number. If you have 12 people, you will seat them around the circle as : 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4. You call out a number and yell, "Blast Off". The people with that number run around the chairs and changes seats with someone else with the same number. The last person seated in out and must remove his chair from the circle. When only one person with each number is left, call out every number: "4,3,2,1"Blast Off!" Again the last person seated is out and it continues until only two people remain.

Pass it on - The group makes a large circle around the room, boy/girl. Everyone holds hands. The leader passes one motion around the circle to the right. This motion must be something noticeable, such as tilting the head to the right. The leader continues to pass motions to his right, but not too fast. Then the leader starts another motion to the left. Now you have two different motions going around the circle at the same time. The person who gets stuck with both motions must pass them to the people on each side of him. Gradually, get faster and faster with the motions.

Zoo Keeper - Choose one person to be the Zoo Keeper. Write names of various animals on a piece of paper and give to each player. The player should keep the animal name secret. The Zoo Keeper is responsible for protecting all the "endangered species". However, one of the animals is going to escape and cause the other animals to go wild. Blindfold your Zoo Keeper and choose one animal to serve as the endangered species for the first round. The group spreads around the room and on a signal will begin to make the sound of their animal. The object is to see if the Keeper can tag the endangered species in 30-45 seconds. Once spread out in the room, no one is to move from that spot for that round. Once the endangered species has been tagged, they are to sit out.

Similarities - Develop a list of similarities, eye color, hair color, shoe size, color of shirt, etc. Play music as the players walk around the room. Stop the music and call out, "same color of eyes". The players call out their response and find other players with the same response. They are to lock arms and get to know one another (telling name, about family, work, etc.)
